On Friday, March 14, a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of education was signed between Uzbekistan and Italy at the CIUZ office in Milan. The agreement establishes the foundation for a collaboration between the Uzbek Ministry of Public Education (covering both school and preschool education) and Reggio Children, a non-profit foundation from Emilia, for the implementation of educational initiatives in the Central Asian country. Reggio Children promotes the internationally recognized educational philosophy of the “Reggio Emilia Approach,” which is applied in 145 countries, including some projects already initiated in Uzbekistan.
The MoU was signed by the Uzbek Minister of Public Education, Khilola Uktamovna Umarova, and the CEO of the Foundation, Cristian Fabbi, in the presence of Marco Farci, Vice President of CIUZ and Head of Institutional Relations, and Federico Ruozzi, President of Schools and Early Childhood Centers of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia.
The signing of the Memorandum took place as part of a ministerial mission to Italy, during which Minister Umarova also met with her Italian counterpart, Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara. Umarova’s visit reflects the growing bilateral cooperation in education, further confirming the well-established academic partnership between the two countries. In September, Italian Minister of University and Research Anna Maria Bernini visited Uzbekistan with a delegation of over 20 rectors from Italian universities to sign several agreements with Uzbek universities.
