Today, July 24th, 2024, the International Kurash Tournament (for the Prize of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan) will take place in Rome at the Nicola Pietrangeli Stadium in Foro Italico.
30 athletes from 20 countries will compete in the traditional Uzbek wrestling, a sport practiced in Central Asia since ancient times, with real competitions organized during the most important holidays. Nowadays, kurash tournaments are organized worldwide, and the sport is included as a discipline in the Asian Games.
The event in Rome offers the opportunity to witness this timeless practice and immerse oneself in Uzbek culture for an evening. During the opening ceremony, starting at 7:30 PM, plov, the main dish of Uzbek culinary tradition and an essential part of festivities and ceremonies, will also be served.
The event, promoted by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Italy, is free to attend.
