Record-Breaking Olympics: Uzbekistan’s Success at Paris 2024

With the start of 2025, we look back at the past year to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the Uzbek national team at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

At the latest edition of the Games, Uzbekistan set a personal record by winning the highest number of medals in its history as an independent nation. With a total of 13 medals—8 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze—the Central Asian country secured 13th place in the overall medal standings, ranking first among CIS countries and fourth in Asia.

Represented by a delegation of 90 athletes competing in 17 disciplines, Uzbekistan achieved outstanding results in combat sports, a traditional stronghold for the nation. Notably, the first medal won in Paris by judoka Diyora Keldiyorova marked the first-ever gold medal claimed by an Uzbek woman. Additionally, the Uzbek team made its Olympic debut in football, archery, and diving.

Uzbekistan’s performance in Paris was the culmination of a steadily growing trajectory of success, which began at the Rio 2016 Games and continued with the extraordinary results achieved in Tokyo 2021.

These achievements highlight not only the country’s sporting excellence but also its commitment to fostering talent and inspiring future generations, marking a historic milestone in the nation’s Olympic journey.
