The Consul Leonardo Comucci visited Uzbekistan

Honorary Consul of Uzbekistan for Tuscany and Umbria and CIUZ Councilor Leonardo Comucci visited Uzbekistan in August, participating in a series of significant institutional meetings focused on tourism, agriculture, and culture.

At the invitation of the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Comucci held talks in Tashkent with Farkhod Fayzillaev, Advisor to the President of the State Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekista. During these meetings, the future prospects of Italian tourism in Uzbekistan were discussed, as it has seen significant growth in recent years. The Consul expressed hope for greater Italian participation in tourism fairs in Uzbekistan and an openness to new and diverse tourist experiences, in addition to the popular tours of historical cities. Fayzillaev also invited him to participate in the Tashkent International Tourism Fair, which will take place in November in the Uzbek capital.

Subsequently, Consul Comucci attended the inauguration of the academic year at MDIS Tashkent University, also speaking at the conference on agritourism development and the scientific conference on viticulture in Uzbekistan, as part of the “Uzumsayli Parkent Festival.” During these events, there were discussions on potential closer university collaborations in the agricultural field, with particular attention to the possibility of organizing specialized courses in the rural sector in Uzbekistan.

Finally, together with Ambassador Agostino Pinna, he represented Italy at the opening ceremony of the 12th Sharq Taronalari International Music Festival in Registan Square in Samarkand. In an interview with La Nazione, Comucci emphasized how the event represents a further opportunity to understand and appreciate the cultural heritage of other peoples, fostering the development of relations with them. Lastly, he presented the current state of relations between Italy and Uzbekistan, supported by numerous official visits in the past two years and by various cultural initiatives between the two countries.
